Poet, punk rocker and Buddhist monk, Robert Winson, started Fish Drum Magazine as a poetry zine and grew it into a beloved Santa Fe-centric literary mag. His sister Suzi Winson took on editing and publishing Fish Drum after Robert’s untimely death. I designed a half dozen editions of Fish Drum — typesetting, layout and covers — as well as several great chap books.

Poetry jams and jammers require posters and postcards and I designed plenty for Fish Drum. Suzi and Fish Drum hosted many Word/Play readings over the years in collaboration with Hell’s Kitchen’s Medicine Show. Fish Drum also collaborated with Double Change (Paris) on French American Cultural Exchange readings for the bi-lingual Fish Drum publication, P.O.E.M. (Poets on an Exchange Mission) at Connecticut’s Eugene O’Neill Theater Center and Cassis, France’s Théatre Jerome Hill.
